Kei Kamara has etched his name in the history books of the Major League Soccer (MLS) yet again by the second highest goal scorer MLS all-time highest goal scorer list. The Sierra Leonean-American legend has consistently proven himself as one of the league’s most prolific scorers and has definitely cemented his name in MLS history.
Kei Kamara’s Football Achievements and Milestones
Kamara’s consistency and knack for finding the back of the net have been key to his success. Known for his aerial prowess and clinical finishing, he has been a nightmare for defenders across the league. As of his latest milestone, Kamara has scored 146 goals in the MLS.
Kamara scored his 145th MLS goal tying him with Landon Donovan at joint second when LAFC played Austin to a 1-1 draw on a rainy Wednesday night.
Kamara out jumped his defender to head home Mateusz Bogusz’s corner kick in the 90th minute to help LAFC avoid being held scoreless for the first time since March 16.
The forward scored his 146th goal few days later in a 6-2 win for Los Angeles FC against San Jose Earthquakes
Kamara also holds the record as the first player in MLS history to score in 17 different seasons. Chris Wondolowski holds the MLS record with 171 goals.
Kei Kamara’s Biography
Kei Kamara was born on September 1, 1984, in Kenema, Sierra Leone. He moved to the United States as a teenager and began his soccer journey in college, playing for California State University, Dominguez Hills. Kamara was drafted into the MLS in 2006 by the Columbus Crew, marking the beginning of an illustrious career.
Over the years, Kamara has played for several MLS clubs, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess at each stop. His MLS journey includes stints with:

Kei Kamara’s Philanthropy
In 2012, Kei Kamara founded the HeartShapedHands foundation with the sole purpose of providing scholarships to schools and students in Sierra Leone. The foundation, named after his signature goal celebration, has allowed Kamara to follow his heart and use his hands to give back to his home country, a place for which he is very passionate.
The funds raised through the HeartShapedHands foundation goes directly to schools and students to help offset the costs of education. School in Sierra Leone is not free to the public, and most young people are unable to continue their education beyond primary school due to funding constraints.
