Idris Elba, multihyphenate to perform Kriofusion music in his hometown

For one night only, East Londons’s Idris Elba will join British and Sierra Leonean artists performing at Drizilik’s live concert in London. While he is widely recognized as a household name in Hollywood, Idris is a highly sought-after DJ, music producer, and chart-topping musician.

The concert, scheduled for November 15 at the Clapham Grand, promises to be the biggest night for Sierra Leonean music in recent times.

Headliner Drizilik is the breakout star of Freetown’s music revival, celebrated for his unique sound—kriofusion, a blend of gumbay, afrobeats, and hip-hop, heavily infused with Krio cultural metaphors.

This won’t be the first time the pair has performed together; they shared the stage in Freetown last year. Drizilik has also featured Idris on two smash hits: “Ashobi,” and  “Vote”.  Idris’s 7Wallace record label released Ashobi in 2022.

Drizilik Takes Sierra Leone’s Music to the Main Stage

Sierra Leone’s music is making its mark on the global stage. Drizilik performed to a packed house at the iconic Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C, in July.

“We’re excited to bring Drizilik’s amazing talent and kriofusion music to London’s Clapham Grand,” said Vickie Remoe.

London was the first city where he performed outside Sierra Leone’s borders in 2019. His exceptional songwriting skills, infectious one-liners, and profound cultural metaphors in his award-winning album, “Shukubly,” released in 2018, earned him the title of Sierra Leone’s king of new school music and opened doors for him internationally.

In 2021, MTV Africa Music nominated Drizilik for a Listener’s Choice Award. Two years later, BET invited him to feature in the 2023 BET International Rap Cypher.

He has graced stages from Lagos to Cyprus. Drizilik has headlined prestigious events like YouTube’s Africa Day Concert, Madeng Festival, and Hull City’s Freedom Festival.
