The people of Tihun, Sogbini Chiefdom, are set to witness a major milestone in sports development in the area as the construction of a modern mini stadium officially begins.

On February 7, 2025, Minister of Sports, Augusta James Teima, launched the project in Bonthe District, marking a significant investment in the region’s athletic future.

The state-of-the-art facility will feature an artificial turf, providing high-quality playing surface for local athletes. Minister Teima emphasised that this initiative will create opportunities for young athletes and promote the growth of sports in the region.

Government’s Commitment to Development

During the launch, Minister Teima assured residents of the government’s dedication to infrastructure development. She announced that Chinese engineers would soon conduct further assessments before construction begins.

“We are here to initiate important projects that will transform Tihun and Sogbini Chiefdom. This stadium is part of our commitment to improving lives,” Minister Teima stated.

She commended President Julius Maada Bio for his strong leadership and continuous support for national development.

She reminded residents of the government’s earlier pledge to enhance local sports infrastructure.

“We made a promise to develop this field, and today, we are fulfilling that commitment,” she declared.

The minister expressed appreciation to all contributors who helped bring the project to life. Minister Teima emphasized that the government remains focused on empowering communities through sports and development initiatives.

This mini stadium is expected to positively impact Tihun’s youth by providing a space for football and athletics. It is part of a broader strategy to enhance sports infrastructure in Sierra Leone, fostering talent and national pride.
