Sierra Leone’s Top Business College Launches Nation’s First Certified Digital Marketing Courses

Digital skills are becoming increasingly vital today, and Sierra Leone is no exception. The Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEEI) at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) has partnered with VR&C Marketing to introduce Digital Marketing and Communication courses designed for students and professionals in Sierra Leone.

These short courses provide participants with essential digital skills to enhance their employability and foster entrepreneurial success.

At the signing of the MOU, which occurred on February 05,2025 in Freetown, Professor Miriam Conteh Morgan, Deputy Vice Chancellor of IPAM, underscored the importance of digital training for professionals and students. 

“Digital skills are no longer optional; they are essential for career advancement and business growth. This partnership between IPAM and VR&C Marketing aligns with our mission to equip students and professionals with the competencies needed to thrive in the digital economy, to complement the academic knowledge a regular classroom offers.”

VR&C Marketing’s founder, Vickie Remoe, thanked the leadership of IPAM and the CEEI for their bold step forward.

“I was cautiously optimistic about reaching out to IPAM about this opportunity because institutions here are often hesitant to collaborate and are typically bogged down by red tape. As Sierra Leone’s top business school, IPAM has its pulse on what the job market needs, and they’re taking the necessary steps to fill the digital skills gap,” said Remoe. 

Starting in April, Remoe, a communications leader and digital strategist, will teach two eight-week-long courses. She will provide hands-on training in modern marketing strategies. Registration opens on 06 March. The course will be primarily virtual, but students may attend classes on IPAM’s campus or online.

Free Masterclass Previews Course

To introduce the course, Vickie Remoe hosted a free “The Business of Social Media Masterclass” on February 10th, 2025. Over 200 participants attended the session in person and online, which offered a preview of the upcoming course and its potential impact.

She highlighted the importance of high-quality, engaging content and discussed branding and social media monetization, including generating income through sponsored content, affiliate marketing, and brand collaborations.

The masterclass revealed the vast opportunities in digital marketing, showing participants that it can be a viable career path. Vickie Remoe and CEEI at IPAM introduced students to key concepts to inspire them to become the next generation of content creators and digital marketers in Sierra Leone.

IPAM and Vickie Remoe’s Digital Communication and Marketing Course

The collaboration between IPAM and Vickie Remoe offers specialized short courses to equip professionals and entrepreneurs with essential digital skills. Vickie Remoe personally teaches each course, ensuring expert-led, hands-on training.

• Strategic Digital Communications: This course is designed for Public Relations Officers, Communications Managers, and other professionals. It focuses on creating impactful digital communication strategies within organizations.
• Digital Marketing for Entrepreneurs: This course provides business owners with the tools to expand their reach, boost engagement, and drive business growth in the digital space.

Each course runs for 15 hours over two months, with 2-hour sessions per class. Course fees are NLE 7,000 for professionals, NLE 2,500 for master’s students, and NLE 1,500 for undergraduate and diploma students.
